Ready for an Inaugural break?

If you've had your fill of all the inaugaral news, I give you the following.

Cast Iron seared ribeye. Potatoes. Roasted home grown green beans with Parmesan. Not any arugula in sight. And an American beer. A real American beer. Then shut off CNN, Turn off FOX and watch a bit of Monty Python.

Relax, smile, and read some more posts while you have that second beer.

Once again, you've rendered my own dinner plans grossly inadequate :)

Re the Ministry, I wonder how many departments and "czars" we're going to gain in the next few years that will be comparable?

Never mind, I don't want to know...

Thanks for the food & laughs, Brigid!

Great one, tanksoldier!

And impeccable timing and taste, as ever, B.

Great idea on the steak and Green Beans, unfortunately my friends and I have decided to forgo the beer tonight and go for Whisky and Hunch Punch instead.

Yuengling is a great beer. I will have to pick some up for the weekend.

Here's some American ingenuity to go along with the American beer ... the iPod Sniper Edition.

I went to iPhone/iPod Touch developer training late last year. The applications people find for the hardware are amazing.

Yuengling offers tours at their brewery here in Tampa if anyone is traveling here for the game. The facility has come a long way since I was in college at nearby South Florida campus -- they used to produce Pabst Blue Ribbon there.

That Monty Python clip reminded me of Channel 11 (PBS) in Chicago - they used to have British humor on late at night - 11PM was a half hour of Dave Allen, followed by Fawlty Towers, and then Monty Python reruns...

I think that Dave Allen was my first brush with atheism, alcoholism, and nudity... Anyway, I dug this up, thinking of yourself and Breda, especially in light of today's events...

MMMM Brigid as always it looks delicious. I was not aware that Yuengling had a brewery in Tampa....but I know where the original is for that great beer....PA baby!!!! lol

FYI the Brewery has a blog, I found it today, it is http://yuenglingbrewery.blogspot.com/

The Boston Globe, NY Times and similar media outlets have become more nauseating than a batch of spoiled shellfish. It's funny. When the Republicans controlled government, the liberal media was tolerable. With the pontification of Obama, they've completely passed over the top into irrationality. At least there are a few places left in the world where common sense reins (along with good cooking).

Considering it's Chinese New Year, perhaps you should do an Asian meal soon. Did you see the recipe in the Boston Globe Cooking section for Shanghai Soupy Buns?

Brigid,

What I would miss most if I left Florida -- good, cheap Cuban food in Tampa and Miami. If you haven't had the experience, post that you're headed down here and I'll respond with a list of our favorites.

That plate of steak is enough to make anyone salivate all the way to a new keyboard!
After months of reading this wonderful blog, full of beautiful writings regarding so many things in life that matter to me, I am beginning to wonder if you are not the perfect woman.
And I know I am not alone:)
On the days when the news just seems to raise my blood pressure, I come here to get things back to normal again. It's not a matter of hope and change at this point, but rather hope and pray.

Ha Ha, Thanks Brigid.

You made my day.

That reminds me I have to get some small red potatos for dinner, it's potroast leftovers tonight...and I've never tried the Yuengling, we don't get it out here.
Don't watch Daytime TV so I missed the mass-hysteria and hypnotic media mumbo jumbo.

Y'know, that is what I had last night, only I had garlic potatoes with my steak. My wife took me out to dinner for my birthday and then to a movie at the Sundance Film Festival.

Steak and Beer; Darn, you make it tough on a guy on a diet. Lost about 5 pounds so far, but now I think this weekend I will treat myself to some of those vittles.

All The Best,

Found your blog through a post on ibloga. Wow! You are a woman of many, many talents and I greatly enjoyed skim-reading your blog the other evening. I was wondering if you would be kind enough to write a future post on how and where you carry your firearms. My wife and I are recent permit holders and are still getting the "feel" for the concept of being armed among the general population. I recall reading a post where you made reference to stores in your area that had signs stating no guns allowed. Do you live in an area that has a high number of armed citizens? Have who ever had a "whoops" moment where someone realized you had a gun on you? Please keep up the great writing; I look forward to your future posts.

P.S. The onion soup recipe was a winner. Thanks!

Steak and Monty Python? Haven't tried that combo before. Sounds so gourmet!
