Together or Alone?

"The true measure of the patriot is steadfastness. We all have small moments of wanderlust in us, tearing off on solitary paths that others may not follow, testing limits, testing ourselves. That is the nature of man. Yet when we strive to hold true, to stand firm to our beliefs as free men, together, to carry our weapons and defend our land, the weak become strong, and the wandering hold together as one. For then we are united in something much greater than the elemental whims of man. Together as patriots, we are much more of the courageous and less of the selfish, we are brothers in arms."- Brigid - Home on the Range 2oo9

  5. Yep, ya hit the nail on the head with that post.

You sink down roots and become something different than what you were. You become something more than just yourself.

B.T.W. is that a Colt's Dragoon hanging on that wall?

  6. Someone once said, "If we don't hang together, we'll hang alone."

You said it much more artfully.

  9. I think that may wind up in a history book someday, labeled as one of the best descriptions of the American patriot ever written.

I'm glad I was one of the lucky ones to read it here first.

  11. You said: "I just want to be one that quietly carries that torch forward, with words and actions."
Indeed you do just that and then some. I agree with tooldieguy, MichaelW, and SpeakerTweeker. Have you thought about running for President? The US needs someone like you in office!

  22. Keep up the good writing Brigid! I have steered two of my grandchildren to this blog. They are girls 14 yrs old who read every post and then come to discuss it with me if the are unsure of what they read. They are becoming critical thinkers about a lot of stuff kids shouldn't HAVE to worry about yet! Thank you again for your insights into life and liberty! You have become great teacher in my circle of friends!

  24. Hi Lady!

    Glad you got the package.

Since I saw the dragoon photo, (and heard that the powers that be are going to do a remake of the movie True Grit, damn 'em)

I just gotta to toss in this in.

"Why, by God, girl, that's a Colt's Dragoon! You're no bigger than a corn nubbin, what're you doing with all this pistol?

I started this blog for family that lives far away. Now that they are gone, it continues on to share those memories.
