Words, like light, illuminate many things - Brigid

"I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."

JAMES MADISON (Drafted Virginia Constitution, Member of Continental Congress, Virginia delegate to Constitutional Convention, named "Father of the Constitution", author of Federalist Papers, author of the Bill of Rights, Congressman from Virginia, Secretary of State, 4th President)

Brigid, now there’s a true statement if I’d ever seen one.
All the best to you and yours for the season.

Amen, Sister Amen!

Even a fat man full of Christmas dinner can eat a BIG bunch of grapes popping them in his mouth one at a time.

How sad for our poor country is future historian say of us,

"Well they were nickled and dimed to death"

'Tis true, we get the government we deserve.

It's so true I can't even blog about it because I cannot face what is being done to us at this moment.

I think this Christmas will be forever marred by the abomination that Congress is about to lay on us, and that it will forever change our nation and how we live.

I enjoy your great blog entrees - you are a terrific writer. You put into words what so many of us feel but can’t seem to express. Keep up the good work. Have a happy holiday season. A side comment: Pilot; photographer; shooter; cook and blogger – wow what a package!!!

I still stand in amazement at the wisdom that our founding fathers had. I beleive that there is no wy that wisdom of that magnatude could have been an accident. I beleive that God had to have played a hand in it. We need today men and women with the God given ability to take us back to where we belong.

Hmmm...wondering if you're thinking of that clusterflop of "Healthcare reform" or several of the other laws to make our lives so much better. Urp!

Merry Christmas, Brigid!

I couldn't agree more.

Having healthcare rammed down our throats is a pretty serious encroachment.

Have a wonderful Christmas Brigid!

That prediction has come true. When our congresscritter no longer view their constituents as their masters, they no longer need to heed those same constituents.

That must change before all else.

Did it MY way said...

Amen. Wake up folks.

See Ya

Note that the esteemed Mr. Madison makes no distinction between political entities of the right or left.

Stay warm, eat well, read voraciously, keep ammo dry.

And too often we're willing if unwitting partners, aren't we? Give up a little freedom for the illusion of a little security, and pretty soon both go slip sliding away. (with thanks to Ben Franklin and Paul Simon)

I'm hanging onto my despair until after the November congressional elections. If we blow it this time I may start speaking harshly.

Just to true, just too true. Sometimes the truth can be painful, but pain can also be a great motivator. Let us pray it's not to late.
On a lighter note, have a very Merry Christmas!
