Eat More. . . .

Venison Smothered Steak

click to enlarge I'm a firm believer that the only living things that should eat food tossed at them out a window are seagulls. - Brigid

Tenderloins seared for a moment in a pan, then cooked in a red wine/mushroom gravy laced with horseradish cream. You can substitute steak with wonderful results if you don't have venison. With some quick cooking rice and a veggie, you can have supper on the table in less than 20 minutes. Fast, good, and you don't have to talk to some clown through the window.

That recipe sounds quicker than the "fast" food in my area. Looks much tastier too!

Needs more fresh ground black pepper in the mushroom sauce. (If I can't see the flakes it needs more) Other than that, pretty hard to argue with you.

"If you don't have venison."
Who doesn't have Venison? Isn't it a staple that everybody has?

I have to say I am very impressed with your writing, I just spent time I didn't have reading your blog. I couldn't stop. I will have some Tenderloin this weekend and add you to my blogroll. Your pal the Envirocapitalist.

Mark - ah yes. It was still good.

Sigboy - most of my friends have it. When we hunted this year we all shared. But some years are lean.

R. Gabe - welcome. I've said it before. I have a remarkably good group of men and women who comment here. The trolls are few, simply those, as Borepath says, wish, rather than do. They know I know who they are.

I hope you come back.

I still have quite a bit of Bambi in my freezer. This looks like a spectacular meal indeed, but I'm still a bit of a cooking n00b. Can I prevail upon you for the gravy recipe?

I could eat that for breakfast.

See Ya

As always, you have managed to make me drool! Well, not so much you, as your recipes!

Not that a picture of you wouldn't make me drool also...but what I mean is...oh, never mind!

What I'm trying to say is the food looks great! And I agree about the biscuits!

It's things like this that probably explain why I start salivating when I hear or read the phrase "home on the range." Time to excavate the mushrooms and start something thawing.
