You can clean, you can repaint. Still there are those things around the place that will make the average yuppie Realtor shudder. My friend, shooter and reloader,
Midwest Chick, and I had a laugh recently talking about some of the stuff we shooters have in our homes when it's time to sell and we had a few ideas. . . .
It's a lamp. I'm telling you, it's a lamp!

LOL! That's awesome :)
You should try it over here in the UK,i had my third small bedroom done out as my gun room, gunracks on the wall steel rifle cases fixed to the wall a long loading bench down one side with three different presses, shelves with reloading data books shelves with scales, bars over the window with one way glass and a steel reinforced door with an alarm and even though i told the people viewing i worked in a gun shop most bricked themselves and a couple went down to the police station.Bunch of wussies!
I got lucky. I sold my house to a shooter.
See Ya
Love it!!
It IS amazing about the little stuff that you don't think about but that will send a realtor through the roof. When I was selling my house down south, I was told to put away the Chinese wall paintings because they were 'too foreign'.
You live in an area where most of the regalia will be an asset. And, your neighbors will probably appreciate the fact that you are filtering out the undesireable liberal buyers who would yuppify the region.
Sure...sure... :-)
I believe you, honest I do.
I wonder if I can wire up my old Lee Progressive? Hmmm, a little wire, light-socket in the powder hopper? Might work.
I am NOT looking forward to selling our current house. My reloading setup is in a closet in one of the bedrooms, but I can only imagine some realtor's look of horror if they were to open that closet and I hadn't removed the gear.
Of course, when we do get around to selling, absolutely all of my guns and gear will be gone from the premises. I'm not fond of the idea of people I don't know (the 500 or so members of the local realtor community) meandering through my house when there might be guns or evidence thereof out in plain, or not so plain, sight.
LOL! Crucis and I think alike. That powder measure could be easily converted into a lamp. If you've worn out the measure that is
Through an lampshade on with a bit of am "antique" look a little fringe on it, maybe a print fabric and your average know nothing about guns etc would be clueless as to what it is!! Powder measure as a lamp, working lamp, hmmmmm....
Powder measure as a lamp? Hmmm
If you take and use a lampshade with a print fabric and a little fringe the average HGTV watcher whom knows nothing about guns would think it was a antique lamp(esp after you raved about it!) and want one for themselves!
I am in a real estate related field, and I know how important it is when selling your house to make it completely "neutral", so that the unimaginative (average) buyer can imagine him/herself in the place. I am Jewish, my husband is Israeli, and we know that the first thing we will have to do if we ever decide to sell is to "de-Jew" our place, removing all the Hebrew books, Hebrew calligraphy art pieces, and beautiful silver Judaica items from the shelves. It's the reality, we're a minority, and it will confuse or put off a certain number of buyers if anything counter to their cultural reference intrudes on their idea of the house as "their" future home.
I never met the couple that we bought our house from. What I liked about the house?
The Mosin Nagant in the rifle cabinet and the location.
