Just can't wait to get on the road again. The life I love is making music with my friends, and I can't wait to get on the road again... Gotta love Willie Nelson! Be safe Brigid.
Mayberry - I'm in my hotel have no idea what time it is, but I'm here.
I laughed at the Willy Nelson reference.
I was in Florida years ago for work. After a VERY long day, we ended up in a bar for dinner and an adult beverage. It was Karaoke night. I can't sing but with enough Irish whisky, it didn't stop me.
The song. . Willy's "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain".
But after a day in Fort Meyers traffic I sang it as "Blue Hairs Driving in my Lane".
Happy Trails! Wife is in St. Louis yet and I am depending on the microwave for my survival as I hold down two homes. EJ back in Chi-Town from Mississippi, and hopes to have Saturday off for a date before he flies out again on Sunday.
Hey kid, I know all rooms look the same [Hilton/ Days Inn] but if the job gives ya a minute, breath in the locale. Sometimes it helps. Been on the road for thirty years and got the shirts.
On hotel chains, I've stayed in rooms ranging from $75-$400/night, and I've noticed that the decor doesn't vary that much. Sure, the amenities elsewhere in the hotel might be better, or they might come turn down my bed and leave a chocolate (or a rose - yeep!) on the pillow, but really, I'm paying for a comfortable place to sleep.
In fact, the biggest difference I've noticed in the higher priced hotels is that the price of the booze in the mini-bars is outrageous!
I am way too much of a pilot. The first thing I thought when I saw that pic was that I'm pretty sure I used to tow banners in the same area as that Cub!
A lot of Fort Myers along McGregor would be recognizable to you, and the only major change I've seen on Sanibel in the last 20 years is the removal of the Australian Pine canopy over Periwinkle Way (they're an invasive species -- thank you Hurricane Charley).
Otherwise, the story in Fort Myers is the same as elsewhere in Florida -- in the last decade, on the edges of the metro areas, a lot of valuable farmland and wilderness was destroyed for poorly-constructed housing developments which are the state's future slums. I'd rather have scrub cows and gators for neighbors.

Brigid,
Travel safely! Too bad you can't swing by the nearest Cabellas and make sure everything is still there!

I enjoy your perception of what 'the road' is...open, free and limitless.
Travel safely, Lady. The prayers of many buoy you up, and may God's face shine upon you as you go.

I got a standing ovation from all the tourists.
Stay safe.
HAAA! "Blue hairs"! I love it! BTW that's my alltime favorite Willy song. : )
Blue hairs? :)
Travel safe.
Glad you arrived safe! I understand the "Blue hairs" LOL! I seem to get behind all the stoners on the two lane roads around here at night!

You suppose that Slow Walking Walter is one of those blue-hairs?
