Tying One On

Some years back, a young man who was pursuing me gave me a $3000 diamond tennis bracelet, in an effort to impress me.

Did it work? What do you think?

Do I seem like the diamond tennis bracelet kind of gal? Ah, in a word. . . No.

I mean. . $3000 for diamonds? That's like, three 1911's!

That being said how about a Paracord Bracelet? Made by reader Stormdrane . I don't know his real identify or much else but this man really makes some nifty stuff, for all kinds of uses, simply making knots.

I think I need a paracord container for my Guinness. Go check out his creations. Cool stuff, my friends.

I'm back and still following you. As per my latest blog post, I'm letting everyone that's in my following list know I still have them.
Ok now that I've got the message up, I have to say something - GOOD FOR YOU. I like rocks, don't get me wrong, but I do NOT like wearing them, owning them, or anything as such. I see it as an open invitation to get them stolen. I'm weird though. Buy me something I need - like a vac or something I can actually get some long use out of. Or better yet, just take me out to eat. Luckily enough for me, I have been with the same man for so long he knows rocks don't work, flowers are nice but they whither away, but I never forget the dinner dates!

P-cord knots are fun! I have only dabbled, but making a key chain lanyard or a tie for a machete is just plain neat. Glad to see some more designs for other stuff.

Awesome knots! Oh yes, a Guinness snuggly would be just right in paracord!

I'm still looking for a 50's era 1911 commercial model to match hubby's. I'd take just one of those over anything with diamonds in it. You have to worry about losing diamonds if you wear them. Not gonna lose a 1911.

Or one really nice 1911, custom leather and a little left over for ammo....

I love looking at Stormdrane's stuff. But I can never get anything I do to look that good. His work is picture perfect.

So-o... exactly what guns did you hock that diamond bracelet for? lol

If I'm looking for a hot anniversary night with the wife... the box better say something like Ruger, Winchester, or Colt.

That looks pretty cool. Guess I'll have to check out his wares, I am all thumbs when it comes to trying to make useful items out of paracord, or any other cord. I can tie nots fine, but just not artfully!

Dann - I didn't hock the bracelet. I supposed that would have been the practical thing but it was given with a lot of affection and even if not returned I felt it best to just not accept it, or keep it if that's what he wanted. I still have it.

Lynx217 - welcoe back. Glad you are well.

Stormdrane is amazing - not just for the work, which to me is pure art, but really awesome photography as well.

I am home! Tomorrow. sleep and processing some photos I took.

Paracord is a girl's best friend?

Sorry but I am forced to disagree. I've seen far too many skinny yet exceptionally well endowed female spy types (with perfect hair and nails) use diamonds to saw through rope or stealthily cut glass to make good an escape.

So... diamonds are definitely tactical. Therefore they are practical.

Brigid,

Welcome home! I am glad you made it safely. And, I am quite certain that Barkley, and many of your local friends, are happy to see you.

Now..the big question, "what would you do if he had presented you with a diamond encrusted 1911?"

Three large worth of gold and diamonds? Good grief. I'll bet that sort of money into a reloading press, a chronograph, and the change on Cabela's gift card would go a lot further!

Do we keep things for a reason, or do they just follow us?

That is cool. I saw a post in a forum which mentioned Field and Stream did a tutorial on making your own paracord rifle sling, a worthy project if you have a little 'macrame' skill time to do.

Guiness! bottle or can?

Lynx217; I'd assess the person in question. I bought a vac for an acquaintance once, I think she expected rocks.

Thanks for sharing the link to Stormdrane, I found his blog very informative on paracord knots crafts.

Hope you enjoy your 550 cord bracelt, made one years ago and still wear it today.
