Harriet D.

September 9, 1923 - June 15, 2010

You had some pretty amazing shoes to fill, and you did. I couldn't have had a better StepMom for the many years I did. Dad couldn't have loved you more. You were pretty darn lucky

So were we.

Pretty special person. Both of them.

I put it up without comments as it was just something I wanted to acknowledge without expectation of response. I simply wanted to honor her, and I know the picture of she and Dad will mean a lot to him. This is one I took and he didn't have a copy of it before. He adored her.

Eternal rest grant to her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

Unfortunately, life is filled with sad anniversaries as well as happy ones.

We are often blessed in ways that make our simple lives great.
"He adored her." says it all.

A loving mother is truly a blessing from God.

Even rarer, though no more nor less of a blessing, is a loving step-mother.

You, my dear, have been at least triply blessed.

To have been adopted into such a family, when they were already older; to have had your mother, though taken too young; to then have had such a wonder stepmother; to still have your father; to have so many friends; . . .

You are truly blessed, as are we through being able to see the parts of your life you share with us.

Thank you.

Nice picture of them both.

In my mothers High-School friends experience - only one really ended up with the ideal family. Soemthing to strive for, yet few attain.

A good marriage takes two very fine people. For your Dad to be visited with the blessings of two wonderful women in his lifetime is remarkable.

I am truly glad for you and your family, Brigid. Life is bittersweet - even the best stories have an ending - but to have examples of good people and their experiences give people like me hope. I am glad you choose to share with us.

PS: What beautiful flowering shrubs your Dad has in his yard.
