Mars Attacks!! - Shotgun Style

Taffy Dale: Guess it wasn't the dove.

Grandma Florence Norris: They blew up Congress! Ha ha ha ha!

A sudden influx of UFO's!
Oh wait, those are made of clay. Well, I need to do my best to protect the planet from the onslaught of flying discs! I've never done this before, but if shop class can save the entire planet in Armagadden, a cross eye dominant redhead can take out a few clay flying things. M.? Grab the camera and cover me, I'm going in.

BOOM!

Uh, maybe not.

Are you sure you can't fling a barn door with that thing?

BOOM!

I tell you one thing, they ain't getting the TV.

Ack! Ack! Ack!
Fortunately, earth women are well armed.

I'm cross-eye dominant too. Makes for interesting ejection avoidance gymnastics with certain vigorously-ejecting German roller lock designs, I tell you. Always fun to pick between being able to see your target, and having brass fly at Mach 1 in front of your mouth.

President Dale: "I want the people to know that they still have 2 out of 3 branches of the government working for them, and that ain't bad".

Hell I would take one of you working than that!

Little light on Shotty's here right now. 870 and some other thing. I need to do this! I am so handgun oriented!

Good shootin'!

Triples from a thrower or a hand thrown stack?

I've never stalked the wild skeet, nor the upland trap.
Always owned 'anti-personnel' shotguns.

Cross dominant shooter here too. Switched over to LH as a wee lad and haven't looked back.

I throw Frisbees left handed too. Dunno why.

Anyways, there's nothing more satisfying than painting a big black sootball in the sky. :)

Well Brigid... you shot it, you clean it and cook it...

I'm waiting to see what kind of tasty orange delight your culinary skills create...

I love shooting clays. We rarely do it and we don't have a bunch of nice bird guns. I love the looks I got when I went to the last fundraiser shoot with a Taloe Rem 870 with an 18 inch barrel and extended mag tube. It makes me giggle when they point and laugh, then I bust a bunch of clays.

Hubby has been handling shotguns since he was 12. He says clays are a bit easier to hit than starlings (which dodge). His grandpa left him a case of shells, but no clays. So he had to "make do" with real targets. (Not sure what idiot in the DNR decided they were "songbirds", so other targets will have to do now.)

I haven't really tried the shotgun yet. Besides, we only have one, and getting it away from hubby is a bit tricky.

Shoot trap every Subday morning.
Not even tasty with fava beans.

Ahhh, an attack of the dreaded evil orange frisbee's. An enjoyable way to spend a day or afternoon. I'll make sure I put a scattergun or two in trunk and maybe next time I'm down we can see if we can save the world.

Keep practicing - 2 more days to dove season. :-)

Mnnnn, dove.

Mark - but don't dove wear those little kevlar vests under their feathers?

I have two shotguns, a pump and a semi-auto. I haven't shot the orange disks of doooooom! in quite a while, but always had fun doing it.
But making smoke and noise is always fun, yah?

I can't hit those damn things either... sigh :-(

Cross dominant? Oh the joys of trying to shoot a rifle or shotgun sighting with my right eye, so long as I do not really expect to hit anything. I learned to shoot a .22LR target pistol left handed when shooting single handed, but just cock my head to the right when using a two handed stance and use the right hand to squeeze the trigger. For aimed fire of rifle and shotgun, left handed is the way to go.

I hear that the cross dominance is hereditary. Both my brother and oldest son are right handed, left eye dominant. My youngest son is left handed, right eye dominant.

My doctor assures me that the cross dominance minimizes the impact of a stroke as tasks are shared more between both sides of the brain. I do not want to test his assertion.

Cross eye dominant? So what? I was taught to keep both eyes on the target anyway, so it makes no difference with iron sights. The OGF would slap me if I closed one eye to sight. Plus it gives me an edge shooting from the weak hand.

Speaking of which, why are guitars set up so the stupid clumsy hand does the smart tricky work, while the smart hand does the easy stuff? George Harrison and Chet Atkins both signed their autographs left handed, but played guitar "right handed".

I was looking for the Remington 870 in the long arms you displayed, but it wasn't there. EVERYONE needs at least ONE 870...
