Big Damn Heroes

I have a friend who has never seen Firefly. He's pretty much the coolest guy on the planet, and one I'd share a steak with, but not seen Firefly??? I had to rectify that with a loan of my DVD's.

One more Browncoat. My work here is done.

I recruit as much as I possibly can, too. More often than not I make a new rabid fan.

Best. Show. Ever.

Makes new recruits, and sometimes new friends, with a single showing. May actually be a superpower.

What! Really? A noble task you have undertaken! Well done!

The creative people behind last year's Japanese live action "Space Battleship Yamato" film were not shy about "borrowing" from "Firefly" among other sources, but, to be fair, a lot of sci-fi produced since the late 70s, "Firefly" included, "borrowed" elements from the old "Yamato" cartoon series. Full circle.

The live action "Yamato" is cheesy but watchable. Hit your favorite import store.

We love Firefly... besides Christina Hendricks... I'm married to a beautiful, intelligent, sassy, voluptuous redhead... and you can have too many of those around...

Besides, gotta love the guns in that show...

Uh... what's Firefly?

You can include me in your Browncoat recruiting tally.

I caught just enough of the original airings to be thoroughly confused with them being shown out of order. After seeing all the Firefly references here I searched out the original episodes online and borrowed a copy of "Serenity" from a co-worker.

I just had a similar experience - with a new shooting student! Just received an email from him, "Why did it have to end?".
I followed up with the 'She Don't Like Firefly' music video.
Hopefully, NOW, we can get to shooting! - gfa

I too had to watch the DVD's. It was indeed a good show. Sentiments beyond that go too deep at the moment.

Yeah, but she's our witch.

Still don't understand why some like Jayne more than Malcolm but to each their own I guess.

Tres cool indeed. I'm still working on someone I know here, but she just doesn't get it.

The HORROR! I don't want to live in a world where I don't know what Firefly is.

Brigid,

You loaned out Firefly!!! Why then, when I asked for it, did you give me Bambi! What am I, chopped liver? What do I need to do to get on the "A" list?

I somehow missed it when it aired and I am somewhat thankful now that I know the story (show cancelled - no closure for years).

I own the DVD's and movie and watch them all (and quote them) regularly.

Wish someone would bring it back!!

Major Brown Coat here, The wife and I enjoy Castle so much partly because of Captain Tight Pants, and the fact that he gets all kinds of in jokes into the show.

immajigman - I always loved the line

Mal: "This distress call wouldn't be taking place in someone's pants, would it?"

Sassy - you can see a lot of clips on youtube, the DVD's are widely available still.

M - you never returned the Petticoat Junction DVD's :-)

I think I need to watch the series again.

Damn Fox for screwing it up!

I just cannot believe that there are folks out there that do not know what Firefly is. Don't watch regular programed TV, but do have the entire Firefly series on DVD.

Great series, just too bad that it was canceled.

My copies get loaned out quite often.

Damnitz! Now I am going to have to watch it all over again.

Let's all sing along, "The man they call Jayne".

"Hey, look, a tussle!" And I still throw out the "well, there's always black-market beagles" line whenever work gets tough. I miss that show!!!

I am seriously missing any sci-fi. I love pa-in-law & ma-in-law dearly, but can only stand so many nature documentaries. AAAArgh!

like Odysseus, I've been fuming about the treatment of the UW professor in Wisconsin, who was forced to take his Mal poster down...I also found a cool song I never saw in the series ABOUT the series you might like.

P.S. don't publish this, but I had hoped to figure out how to add the link I put in my comment to the words, like Odysseus did for that link. That's why I deleted and re-posted, but didn't figure out how.

don't post this, but just wanted you to know what's what with it

The best....now I must watch the series and movie now....well at least start it now....it is kind of late....but tomorrow....well I guess it is tomorrow. Anyway, Hendricks "fan" too - two great episodes there too. When is a Browncoat going to become the head of one of the studios???? It's way past about time!!!!
