Small World/Small Souls - A Brave Dog in Need

Note to everyone:  Sadly I got news from that Hank passed at noon today, burned over 80% of his body with smoke damage to his lungs.  The vet bill will still have to be paid and his owner is now homeless so thanks to anyone who can donate:

How the day started -

I got a message from Mrs. Keenan this morning early (Blogorado's FarmMom) that there'd been a fire at a friend's apartment complex last night in Alabama and his neighbor not only lost everything he owned, his  neighbor's dog was hurt, taking out the sliding glass door when the flames reached him and jumping off the third floor away from the fire, to jump to the only person he recognized.

That person was Gunsmith Joe.

Joe called Old NFO on the phone this morning - and we're trying to get the word out.

Joe has set up a Go Fund Me, to help with the dog's vet expenses - he's got some cuts, some burns and a couple broken bones, but he is stable at AMC Emergency & Specialty Center and hopefull will recover with proper care. He is all that this poor man has left, everything else burned, the other units suffering only smoke damage or no damage at all.  Here's the info and the link to go fund me.

The goal is enough to cover the vet bill and perhaps leave a little extra over to help his owner Chris, further, as he literally has the clothes on his back left.  I googled it (it was in the Birmingham area) and saw the news story about the dog as well, he is one lucky pup,

You can also Paypal to oscarvine@gmail dot com to donate, and if you use the friends and family option there's no PayPal fee.  FarmMom knows and trusts the source of this info related to the PayPal Account.

Or you can go to the GoFundMe:   gofundme.com/phtv8nhc

Thanks for sharing and caring. Old NFO will have updates.

  1. Thank you for posting and spreading the word. I don't know if he had any insurance at all since he was renting but no matter what this will put him in a real bind. And his first thought was for Hank. Last I heard Hank was doing well with all the burns, cuts and other injuries but it's gonna be a hard time for both him and his two legged buddy. I hope folks can find it in their hearts to help if they are able.

  2. Sadly, Hank died around noon today. Burned over 80% of his body, and it probably got his lungs too. But the bills are still going to have to be paid. Thanks for boosting the signal, as of 1600 we're half way to the goal. At least Hank is no longer in pain...

  3. Aw, HELL! Holly told me about Hank last evening. I'm glad we went ahead and sent our little bit. I hope the neighbor is able to get along okay. So horrible to have lost Hank, even without the other hardships.
    Best, Johnny

  7. Thank you everyone. Some other folks in the community started a separate fundraiser to help Hanks "Dad" get into a new home. He's a hard working, kind young man and that is deeply appreciated.

I started this blog so the child I gave up for adoption could get to know me, and in turn, her children, as well as share stories for a family that lives too far away. So please keep it friendly and kid safe. Posts that are only a link or include an ad for an unknown business automatically to to SPAM..
